NHIT Care Campaign® – Responding to a Dire Public Health Challenge in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands
The National Health IT Collaborative for the Underserved (NHIT), with guidance from supporting partners, launched the Care Campaign with the mission of restoring the health safety net for people of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
The purpose of the NHIT - Virigin Islands Health Innovation Summit is bring all health stakeholders to enhance USVI’s capacity to fulfill its mission and responsibility to the public in ways that align with the mandates of a 21st century health system. With each provider entity optimizing its role, and becoming fully integrated, the residents of the USVI will have a complete system of healthcare delivery that would carry out the required regulatory functions and provide access to high quality, comprehensive care that is sustainable and resilient to natural or man-made disasters.
